Independence Blue Cross of Philadelphia set a goal to be the Best “Blue” in the nation. This meant changing the perception and reality of how they serve their 3,400 employees, 2.5 million members in southeastern Pennsylvania, the economic climate in Philadelphia, and the political climate of the nation.
One look at their outdated 807,000 SF trophy tower in Philadelphia’s CBD jumpstarted a new vehicle for change. Not only was a trophy tower revitalized, but a block long Class A Healthcare Corridor was imagined and brought to life. The Corridor houses thousands of jobs, engages the everyday Philadelphian, and changes the way people view a healthcare company, creating a culture and brand of “human centered innovation”. The Healthcare Corridor has revitalized a sleepy block of Market Street, brought over 1,000 new jobs into the city and cemented IBX as a driver of the increasing Philadelphia CBD revitalization.
