Meyer and Capitol Seniors Housing Speak at 2022 EFA Conference and Expo

Meyer Principals and Senior Living Practice Leaders, Dan King and Shannon Remaley, along with Director of Development for Capitol Seniors Housing, Dave Ennis, led an education session discussing adaptive reuse for senior living communities at the 2022 Environments for Aging (EFA) Conference and Expo in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The panel examined a case study familiar to both Meyer and Capitol Seniors Housing: the recently completed Residences at Plainview, in Plainview, NY. Formerly an outdated Marriott Residence Inn, the team used design and construction techniques to adaptively reuse and transform the space into a thriving independent living community for seniors.

The Residences at Plainview include studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments with full kitchens and a variety of amenities reminiscent of a luxury hotel. This senior living community offers restaurant-style meals in a vibrant dining room that has access to an outdoor patio and pool. The community boasts an impressive two-story lobby with deluxe fireplace, comfortable seating, and open access to the adjacent bistro and sports bar. Additional amenities include an indoor lap pool with locker-room facilities, sauna, gym, movie theater, art studio, salon, barber shop, and exquisitely furnished living and common areas.

The Meyer and Capitol Seniors Housing teams were thrilled to share senior living and adaptive reuse insights, and to lead this session at the 2022 Environments for Aging Conference.
