Meyer, a national award-winning architecture and design firm, today announced the promotion of Alicia Karr to chief executive officer, effective immediately. Norman Liedtke, a founding partner and CEO of the firm since 1976, will now serve as executive chairman. The leadership transition coincides with Meyer’s five-year strategic plan, which outlines the firm’s vision for increasing its national presence and further strengthening its markets to align with industry trends.

Karr, who has been with Meyer Design for 25 years, was appointed president in 2020 following her tenure as chief financial officer. In her new role, she will be responsible for all executive management and strategic direction of the company, while Liedtke will continue to advise on long-term strategy, governance, and key accounts.

“Next year is Meyer’s 50th anniversary and our growth with Norman as CEO has been phenomenal,” noted Karr. “I am incredibly honored to be trusted with this role and am committed to leading our talented team as we embark on this next chapter.”
“I’m excited for the future of Meyer under Alicia’s leadership,” said Liedtke. “Alicia has a deep understanding of our business that will position the firm for growth, but one of her greatest assets is her selfless dedication to the success of Meyer and its employees. I look forward to supporting her in my new role.”

Under its current leadership, Meyer Design has grown from a regional entity to a nationally recognized architecture and interior design firm instrumental in creating engaging spaces that promote sustainability, belonging and wellness. The company also established an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) and has been recognized as Philadelphia Business Journal’s “Best Place to Work” multiple times, reflecting its positive and inclusive workplace culture.
